Japanese honorifics
In conversation, honorific suffixes are attached; -sama for a superior, -sensei for a teacher, -san for an equal, -dono for an equal of high rank, -hime for a lady of samurai or noble rank. I also used the endearment -chan (“dear”) for females. The “-san” evolved from “-sama.” The honorific can be attached to a title, a family name, or a given name, the last being less formal.
